David England was ordained as a Catholic deacon in 2002 in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Prior to becoming a deacon, David taught political science at Arkansas State University for 20 years, where he received the Teacher of the Year Award in 2000.

Before teaching David worked as a warden at a maximum security state prison in Alto, Georgia and earned the Warden of the Year Award in 1976. David also served as a Marine and received the Purple Heart medal during two tours of Vietnam.

Since becoming a deacon, David founded the conference of St. Vincent de Paul at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas and oversaw the expansion of its ministries into the prison system, relief for Hurricane Katrina victims and serving the poor and needy. Additionally, David served on the Board of Directors for St. Bernard's Hospice and the Jonesboro Housing Authority.

David poured his love of meticulous research into this collection of homilies and he hopes they may serve to deepen your understanding of the teachings of the Bible.
